MENDIP POSTCARD CLUB
ABOUT
We meet monthly on the third Monday of every month at 7.30pm at Wells Town Hall. At most of our meetings we listen to a speaker. We also share information about our hobby of collecting postcards. There is usually an opportunity to sell and to buy some postcards. Over a cup of tea and coffee we can network. We welcome visitors.
OUR PROGRAMME
Our programme has been drastically affected by Covid-19. However, we are meeting again from September 2021. See below

New insights into local history
At our June meeting Sylvia Healey gave an interesting talk about the local elections in 1906 and 1910 (when there. were two elections in the same year.). The talk was illustrated with postcards for the period showing local candidates and descriptions of the local events they attended. Sylvia also spoke about the context of the elections immediately before the outbreak of World War 1.

Well, thank goodness we can move away from Zoom meetings and actually meet up for out next meeting which is to be held on Monday the 20th September at 7.30pm at Wells Town Hall
Chris King is to present an illustrated talk entitled
"Annie Naish – a Rural Life.
The life and work of a pioneering early lady photographer"
Our October meeting is scheduled for 7.30pm on Monday 18th October. Robert and Lesley Gilderthorp are to give an illustrated talk on Tunbridge Wells.
Our November meeting is scheduled for Monday, 15th November - details are still to be confirmed.

Reflections of a bygone age
